Someone who hacks into your HBO Max account will find themself with more than just access to the streaming service; they'll also have access to some of your personal information. Regularly changing the password associated with your HBO Max account is a good way to keep hackers out. It also helps kick other people off of your HBO Max account who have your username and password, such as friends and family you've shared your account information with.
Now let's walk through the steps to change your HBO Max password.
Step 1. First, you need to access the Manage Devices screen. On the HBOMax.com website you can do this by clicking your account name at the top of the screen, and then selecting "Account." However, in the HBO Max app on iPhone, iPad and Android devices you can do this by tapping the "My Account" icon, then tapping the "Settings" icon that appears on the next screen to open the Settings menu, and then tapping "Account" in this menu.
The Account screen is displayed, showing the first name, last name and email address associated with your HBO Max account.
Step 2. Click "Edit" on the Account screen. A screen is displayed asking you to confirm the password for your HBO Max account. Enter your current HBO Max account password and then click "OK." You'll return to the Account screen.
Step 3. Enter your new password in the Password field, and then click "Save." Your new password needs to be at least eight characters long. Your new password will be required going forward any time you're prompted for your HBO Max password.
