How to TURN ON TEXT TO Speech in Games or Party Chat (Speech to TEXT)
If you’re looking to enable text-to-speech (TTS) in games or party chat, here are the steps for different platforms:
Xbox One:
Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide.
Navigate to Profile & system - Settings - Ease of Access- Game and chat transcription.
Under the Party chat options column, select Text-to-speech.
This will read aloud any messages typed in the party chat by other players. You can also change the voice and language of the TTS feature.
Windows PC (using Xbox Game Bar overlay):
Enable Game Mode in Windows settings under Gaming.
Use the shortcut Windows key + G to toggle the Xbox Game Bar overlay.
Click on the gear icon to access the Game Chat Transcription options.
Enable Speech-to-Text to transcribe other players’ voices into text.
Enable Text-to-Speech to read your text chat to other players using a synthetic voice.
Xbox Party Chat (for both Xbox and Windows devices):
Go to Settings - Ease of Access - Game and chat transcription.
Enable Speech-to-text to convert spoken words into text displayed as an overlay during gameplay.
Enable Text-to-speech to have your typed chat messages read aloud by a synthetic voice.
