How to Upgrade to an SSD on the Xbox 360 (Retail/Bad Update/JTAG/RGH)
1,431Although using an SSD as an internal drive is not new for hardmodded JTAG/RGH owners, doing the same thing with a retail NAND has not been possible... Until now! With a recent update to FATXplorer, you can now use the SSD Maker function to reflash a compatible SSD to work on the Xbox 360! Gone are the days of making sure you have an official Xbox 360 hard drive, or looking for a Western Digital hard drive manufactured prior to 2020. Pick up a compatible SSD, flash it, and install it in any Xbox 360 out there!
Do keep in mind this does have some limitations, the main one being storage capacity is limited to 500 GB. If you want to use a higher capacity on your console, this requires a hardmod. Additionally, only certain drives are compatible dependent on the internal drive's controller. These are detailed on Eaton's site, but keep in mind that drive manufacturers could change their controllers at any time! Again, if you don't want to work within this limitation, you must hardmod your console to use practically any drive in it.
