βοΈ How to Use Airplane Mode on Google Pixel 9 Pro | Connectivity Control π΄
Airplane Mode (or Flight Mode) on your Google Pixel 9 Pro is a quick setting that disables all wireless communication radios. This includes cellular (calls, SMS, mobile data), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It's primarily used on airplanes to prevent interference with aircraft systems, but it can also be useful for troubleshooting network issues or conserving battery life.
What Airplane Mode Typically Disables:
Cellular network connectivity (for calls, text messages, and mobile data)
Wi-Fi connectivity
Bluetooth connectivity
Other wireless radios like NFC or Ultra-Wideband (UWB) may also be disabled or have their behavior modified when Airplane Mode is active.
How to Turn Airplane Mode ON or OFF on Google Pixel 9 Pro:
Method 1: Using Quick Settings (Fastest Way)
Swipe down from the top of your Pixel 9 Pro's screen to open the Quick Settings panel. You might need to swipe down a second time to expand the panel and see all available tiles.
Look for the Airplane mode tile. It usually has an airplane icon (β οΈ ).
Tap the Airplane mode tile to toggle it ON or OFF.
When Airplane Mode is ON, the tile will typically be highlighted (e.g., blue), and an airplane icon will usually appear in your phone's status bar.
When OFF, the tile will not be highlighted, and the airplane icon in the status bar will disappear.
Method 2: Using the Settings Menu
Open the Settings application on your Google Pixel 9 Pro.
Tap on Network & internet.
You should see a toggle switch labeled Airplane mode directly within this menu.
Tap the toggle switch to turn Airplane Mode ON (the switch will typically move to the right and change color) or OFF (the switch will move to the left and appear unhighlighted or grey).
Using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth While in Airplane Mode:
Your Google Pixel 9 Pro (running Android 15) allows you to re-enable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth even when Airplane Mode is active. This is useful for in-flight Wi-Fi or using Bluetooth headphones on a plane.
First, turn ON Airplane Mode using either the Quick Settings or the Settings menu method described above.
To re-enable Wi-Fi:
Swipe down to open Quick Settings and tap the Wi-Fi tile to turn it back on.
Alternatively, open Settings, tap Network & internet, then tap Internet, and toggle Wi-Fi on from there.
To re-enable Bluetooth:
Swipe down to open Quick Settings and tap the Bluetooth tile to turn it back on.
Alternatively, open Settings, tap Connected devices, then tap Connection preferences, then select Bluetooth, and toggle it on.
Your Pixel 9 Pro will usually remember these preferences. So, the next time you activate Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth might remain enabled if you had turned them on during a previous Airplane Mode session.
π‘ Important Note:
β Always adhere to airline crew instructions and regulations regarding the use of electronic devices and Airplane Mode during flights.
β Activating Airplane Mode can be a useful first step for troubleshooting if you're experiencing persistent issues with cellular, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth connectivity, as it resets all wireless radios.
β Enabling Airplane Mode can also significantly help conserve battery life, especially in areas with poor signal, because your phone won't be constantly trying to connect to wireless networks.
