This video will show you how to use Microsoft Windows XP's Scanner and Camera Wizard to scan pictures, photos, pages, documents, etc., directly from within your Windows XP operating system without the need to download and/or install any additional scanner software (scanner device drivers still have to be installed however).
This video was tailored to make use of the Hewlett-Packard HP ScanJet 5100c parallel port flatbed scanner (as no scanner-specific software was made available fo this scanner on Windows XP by HP), however, these instructions should function for other makes and models of scanner installed on the Windows XP operating system as well.
