Do you know how to use the E4 Model Editor to create your modular E4 applications?
And, do you know how to extend your Eclipse RCP application using an E4 model fragment.e4xmi?
E4 model fragments are the default mechanism to extend your Eclipse RCP applications, and this talk's aim is to clearly explain how to use the model editor when dealing with fragments and to show the most recent improvements introduced in the model editor itself.
In the first part of the talk we will show how to use the E4 Model editor in two basic cases: (1) when extending the Eclipse IDE with a fragment adding Menus and (View)Parts, and (2) when extending your Eclipse E4 Application with other plugins, making it modular.
In the second part of the talk, we will present the improvements to the E4 Model editor that we introduced starting from the Eclipse Platform Hackathon (Hamburg, Dec 2016) and we show how they will make your life better.
If you use the E4 Model editor, and you want to better understand the E4 model modularity, and how the editor works with fragments, this talk is for you!
