Today I put a Rocket League strategy I found to the test. Does the goalie META actually work in grand champion? I think you'll be surprised. I definitely was. We played 5 ranked matches with one dedicated defender and one dedicated attacker. The results were actually impressive.

This Rocket League strategy is weirdly OP even against grand champions. Surprisingly, there are still a ton of overcommit and defensive mistakes made in grand champion, having someone try to 1v2 on offense isn't even that hard. The added benefit of it is that there is no risk overcommitting if you're the one doing the strategy. When you use this Rocket League strategy, you're basically putting the result of the game in hands of the opponents. If they do everything right, they should be able to punish you for always having a one player deficit in each situation. If they don't take advantage however, you'll find yourself scoring a lot of free goals without needing to stress about pressure on defense. So against specific types of teams, this strategy is OP. Against teams that use open space well, you'll probably get destroyed. It's less about how well you perform and more about how well the opponents do.
