The Retribution Alive road trip continues. March in Camden, April in Leytonstone and now May in Highbury, upstairs at the Garage!

It's a special one this month with the main event being the album release performance from occult black metallers Ethernal! As usual the bands finish at midnight and the Retribution club night keeps the neighbours awake until 4am!

Bands playing 7pm-midnight:

ETHERNAL

Ethernal forged their first demos in 2003/04 and released their first album 'Grim Ethernity' in 2008. After a select few live performances over 2010/11 the band embarked on recording their second full length, 'Arkioas' which was released April 2012. Now they unleash their new album.

"...a nature oriented black metal that is also very esoteric and mind-expansive through the use of epic instrumentation." - Nocturnal Cult

Wetting the forked Ethernal tongue: The Occult, Esotericism, Mysticism, Philosophy, Meditation, Music, Rebellion, The Left Hand Path, Music, Literature, Movies, Art, Obscurity, Misanthropy, Lysergic Communion, Chaos, Metaphysical Transcendantal Perception!

BLOODWORK

Concoted in the festering stench of London in 2003, Bloodwork spent their formative years slowly crafting their necro and ugly form of extreme old school metal with the In His Death demo (2004) Insufficient Flesh EP (2005). Influenced by the surrounding dead as they rehearsed in the rotten underground crypts of run down churches, they ventured forth with rare live explosions across London, Europe and South America. The time to see the light of day has come again and they now seek to leave an indelible aural stain with the release of their debut World Without End.

Artists that wet the Bloodwork tongue: Pestilence, Death, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Darkthrone, Emperor, Obscura, Sunn, Immortal, Mayhem, 1349, Xasthur, Hypocrisy, Drottnar, Autopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Tourniquet, Nile, Satyricon, Deathspell Omega!

HUNDRED

Hundred are bringing traditional real metal back to the masses. With a triple guitar onslaught and an epic 'old school' wall of sound Hundred fall somewhere between Mercyful Fate, Maiden and Bathory. The demo ep, 'The Riders Of Ardenland', first brought the band to the attention of metal fans, both here and on the continent. A successful appearance at this years Up The Hammer Festival, in Athens, led to a worldwide distribution deal with Iron On Iron Records. Current CD, 'The Forest Kingdom (Part 1)' was released in June 2014 with orders received from all corners of the globe. A September tour in the UK with Darkest Era will be followed by a follow up ep and a number of live dates already announced for the next year.

"What Hundred deliver is half an hour of heavy metal which reconciles the world, recorded with no real hopes and yet has caught the attention of many. The Riders of Ardenland has ridiculous potential because few bands like Hundred have grasped the original 80's spirit so well."

"...this is what it means to play heavy metal in 2013" - metalhead.it

AVENGE THEE + NAIME

"Kent band AVENGE THEE + NAIME were facing a similar situation with their brand of chaotic punk metal over on the Jagermeister stage. Fortunately theories or preconceptions can often be found to be erroneous, otherwise we would live in a very boring world indeed and today AT+N ignite the little stage with a set of stimulating tunes, twisted and turned by front man Adam Wesgate who points, shouts and insults various members of the crowd while strutting up and down the stage, although with 2 drummers the band are actually playing on the floor. One feature of AT+N is the use of jaw jamming doom riffage that does fit Bloodstock like a glove and during such a musical section several more people join the throng around the stage sporting Cathedral and Candlemass t-shirts." - Rock Matrix
