70I have played many indie horror games on this channel, but I never heard of the Dread X Collections. There are already 5 out there and the concept is brilliant! It is a package that is sold which contains multiple small horror games made by both starting and experienced indie developers. They range from many different genres and gameplay styles and offer something for everyone. In the most recent Dread X Collection the game that caught the most attention was without a doubt Hunsvotti.
The art style and setting of this game are undoubtedly based on the movie Midsommar and we play a shunned kid who gets picked on by everyone in his village. During the summer festival we are tasked with finding seven flowers to reveal who our true love is while avoiding the townsfolk. At it's core this game is another one of those "collect 8 pages" type of game and usually I really dislike those games since they feel like cheap copies. But THIS is how you create one of those type of games and make it feel unique and fun.
The setting is all bright and colorful, making it nice to walk around in and with so many npcs patrolling and doing different things and routines it feels like a lived in world. It's so much better than all those Slender clones with the same looking dark hallways. This game felt refreshing and fun despite the concept being done to death and the finale of this game is pure genius. I am not surprised at all that this game quickly grew into the poster child for the fifth collection.
