Xiaomi has rolled out the HyperOS 3.0.17.0 update (approximately 712 MB) for the Xiaomi 17 Pro, with the primary focus being a significant enhancement of the device's secondary rear display functionality.
Key feature additions include dynamic notifications on the rear screen, such as local public transport (railway service) reminders, showcasing the expanding utility of this secondary panel. Beyond this, the update refines the general user experience by improving system stability, optimizing power consumption, and ensuring smoother gaming performance. Specific fixes address a rear screen flickering issue experienced by some users and enhance gesture recognition, particularly the low-light Panda animation.
The update also resolves critical bugs, including an error that would delete dual applications without notification and an issue causing automatic hands-free activation during live-streaming application calls. This release includes the October 2025 security patch.
Commercially, the Xiaomi 17 series has achieved tremendous success, surpassing one million units sold in just two days, with the flagship 17 Pro Max accounting for over half of the sales. In response to this overwhelming demand, which exceeds the sales pace of the previous generation, Xiaomi has confirmed it is actively increasing production.
