Evil Dead Rise is the latest entry in the Evil Dead franchise. The film is written and directed by Lee Cronin, who previously made 2019’s The Hole In The Ground, a movie I hadn’t seen or even heard of prior to making this review. Leading up to the release of Evil Dead Rise, I really wasn’t looking forward to the film. The trailers honestly looked pretty bad and just flat out didn’t do it for me. A lot of the TV spots just showed the same scene involving the character of Ellie smashing eggs in a pan while possessed. In hindsight, I’m actually glad this is all the ads showcased because I feel like showing anything else would ultimately be a spoiler and ruin the moviegoing experience as a whole. Going into this movie with low expectations was also an added bonus, as I walked out of the cinema really enjoying myself.
