I made a Hot Mess playing the Prehistoric Kingdom Alpha
Quite the hot mess in the Prehistoric Kingdom Alpha. Not the alpha itself though. The dumpster fire was all me just seeing what I could get away with and wondering if spamming certain buildings, dinosaurs, scenery, and more would force a crash. Plenty of laughs and funny moments for sure. Pleased to find out this dinosaur park builder game is very stable even for an alpha. There’s bugs of course, but with what Prehistoric Kingdom currently contains it’s looking very promising. It’s looking to be everything I wanted Jurassic World Evolution to be as a sandbox. It's literally Jurassic World Evolution meets Planet Zoo! Might even wind up better than JWE by the end, but I’ll keep my hopes tempered. It’s best to never get overhyped.
I took a chance with this early access but so far I’m feeling good about it. There’s a lot of set pieces, walls, shops, flowers, and more. It has better, more easily concealable energy mechanics too.
The forest brush tool is pretty snazzy. Terrain tools are as expected. Dinosaur and guest behavior is barebones though, but that’s fine. That’ll come in the beta, or so I read on the roadmap. Currently spammed dinosaurs were Tyrannosaurus Rex, Lambeosaurus, and Styracosaurus and they move around just fine. Besides plowing through guests and not attacking each other I mean. But since it already has every customization tool I wish Jurassic World Evolution had, this will likely become my go to dinosaur park builder game for my funny variety channel.
Developments I'm looking forward to: Dinosaurs attacking or eating guests, realistic visitor behavior, obviously more dinos and other prehistoric animals, more customization options (materials?) for buildings, more natural props, and a lot more. Again, keeping expectations tapered, but I'm holding out hope on this one!
On the back end: Probably noticeable, but I fixed my audio. I had microphone filters on the wrong channel but I decided to try out some new hardware. I’m very pleased with the new results and my editing time has improved significantly. I probably won’t push another video out within two days of filming just for my sanity’s sake, but at least I know I can do it. Should make all my future comedy videos that much better, and hopefully my non-ADR’d commentary will increase the laughs and funny moments. I hated having to redo all the audio just because of excessive background noise.
Side thought: Will this game be abbreviated as PHK or PK?
DatXDiver Builds Series: A funny and episodic variety Let’s Play series. From challenges to ridiculous prompts, I build whatever the hell I feel like in any game with palpable construction flexibility or sandbox options. The best funny moments will be presented in a narrative fashion to keep things fluid. The game library will vary and change, but comedy episodes for Planet Coaster, Besiege, Planet Zoo, Minecraft, Rimworld, Jurassic World Evolution, Stonehearth, City Skylines, and even rare IRL uploads (Warhammer, Lego, etc.) are all fair game. The vast majority of episodes will remain gaming, and any IRL or unusual uploads will be paired with a gaming video to be uploaded on the same day or week.
