My stress test for Prehistoric Kingdom Alpha was a natural follow up for my first video. A first impression with plenty of laughs and hot take funny moments is one thing, but this is still the alpha for this dinosaur park game. Saves can easily be wiped with every update so I figured that’d make a great excuse to try and do even less serious parks than I already do. So why not a cursed park where I'm just having fun and seeing what funny bugs I can force?

I like to see myself as an in-between for serious park builds and ridiculous comedy, but I have to do some stress relief too. Trying to see how much the alpha version can take just seemed like a very feasible idea for a park, but it needed a bit of prep because sandbox money currently isn’t unlimited. In that regard it really was the worst park because it had a slow burn start.

I found more bugs in the process, though some of them were probably just from the excessive ram and memory leaks I forced through sheer weight of animations. Those wind turbines were sure fun to spam but man my wrist hated me. The AI pathing for people is basic but it’s funny watching how rudimentary behavior can be messed around with so badly. But overall I’m extremely impressed with just how much the alpha could handle before it crashed. You have to put a serious, serious amount of purposeful effort into crashing the park to make it happen. Of course, that’s only through sheer weight of assets. There are other bugs that can force a crash beforehand, but the code for running the game itself feels very stable.

At least along the way there were plenty of funny dinosaur moments and other gaming shenanigans. Jurassic World Evolution still has its fair share of bugs but the number stumbled upon in Prehistoric Kingdom is pretty funny. Early access can be fun and enjoyable if you’re not taking it seriously. This game really is feeling like a great mix of Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo that I’ll be coming back to repeatedly. I’m genuinely addicted.
For the next dinosaur park, I think I’ll finally make a more serious park. Not totally serious of course, but more serious for sure.

Builds Series: A funny and sometimes episodic variety Let’s Play series. From challenges to ridiculous prompts, I build whatever the hell I feel like in any game with palpable construction flexibility or sandbox options. The best funny moments will be presented in a narrative fashion to keep things fluid. The game library will vary and change, but comedy episodes for Planet Coaster, Besiege, Planet Zoo, Minecraft, Rimworld, Stonehearth, City Skylines, and even a rare IRL craft (Warhammer, Lego, etc.) are all fair game. The vast majority of episodes will remain gaming, and any IRL or unusual uploads will be paired with a gaming video to be uploaded on the same day or week.
