This will be a short summary of everything that happened to Shin Ren, in order:

Shin was a valued soldier and was respected a lot amongst the people of the Sizhou empire. However, behind that identity, there was a lot of pressure from his family. Shin's family had never been of very high status. When he became a samurai, they were suddenly way more respected, however they never really cared for Shin. Shin was the most hardworking one of them, always fighting for survival and making sure they were safe. His brother, Evos, was quick to grow jealous of his younger brother.
One day, the Sizhou empire was attacked by a great monster. Shin naturally tried to fight against it, but was unsuccessful, and knocked down. During this fight, which lasted days, Evos took Shin with him to a secret place. He claimed that he knew about a magic sword which could save the empire. Out of pure desperation, Shin agreed to go with him. Shin hesitantly took the glowing and ominous sword, and returned back in a hurry. He didn't know that his brother had only told him half of the truth. The sword could indeed take down any threat, but the power came with great cost. Shin was slowly falling into a corruption, caused by the curse of the sword. He didn't know his body would soon become the host to a newborn, godlike creature. For the cost of wielding this sword, Shin was exiled. He was humiliated, and frowned upon as he was cast aside, and suddenly chased down by the rest of the soldiers.
For a long while, he stayed hidden within a small coastal village. Shin's life was slowly building itself up again, and he was accepted there. It wasn't long before he ran into the beautiful gardener, Haru. Shin didn't know what feeling it was that grew inside of him, but it drew his attention to Haru almost constantly. The two began speaking, and became close. Haru revealed himself to be a little like Shin. Haru too, had great powers, and bonded with the water in an unnatural way. They stayed lovers in secret, and swore to protect each other despite of having all odds against them. After the great tragedy, he finally got a peaceful life, for a while at least. It wasn't long before Shin was found. He was forced to flee, and tried convincing Haru to stay hidden within the village. Haru refused, and they were both on the run for a long while. Eventually, they were trapped by the Sizhou empire's walls. To buy Shin time, Haru sacrificed himself and revealed his identity as a child of the ocean. Tragically, Haru was killed before Shin could escape. Shin held his dying lover in his arms, trying to get a farewell before the soldiers grew near.
In that moment, Shin snapped. Giving in to the corruption, he took down each an every soldier that were chasing them. With inhuman speed and strength, he marched towards the highest point of the Sizhou empire, the emperor's temple. From there, he gave birth to the day known as "Doomsday". He called upon great power, and destroyed the entirety of the empire, only leaving the small unnamed village in his shadow. From there, Shin was alone. He walked towards the sun, letting go of the light. Shin fell into a sort of hibernation, for almost a thousand years. Raijin, who was now in control of Shin's body, met new people. Kind, human people who took him, and cared for him. Kind, human people, who all died and left him even more scarred and empty than before. From that point, Raijin swore to regain their full strength, and end the world for the way they took Haru from him. His dearest Haru, who was only written down as a liar, a witch, and a disgrace, alongside his own name. Shin didn't care for himself, but he hated humanity for everything they had done to Haru.
In the present time, Raijin came across a few people, who he was able to save. Children like himself, who the world had shunned out. They took those children under their wing, and taught them what they knew. From there, Raijin began building up the last pieces of strength to erase humanity in one fell swoop.
Right as he was about to make the last piece fall in place, he was met with a familiar face. The ghost of Haru, who had spent those thousand years trying to find him, had finally found his lover, who had completely lost it. With his words, Raijin paused, thinking for a moment. Shin was brought to the surface, and for a moment, it was a sweet reunion, but, he made his choice. Shin called upon Raijin's power, and set his final strike in action. And, it worked. The world was left empty, and dead. There was only him left, fighting his immortality. The little remains of Haru merged together with him, leaving a faint crying ghost in the back of his mind. Now, he was going to live on, tortured for his deeds, but he didn't care. He had taken his revenge, and wiped out humanity. It had actually worked. He thought, "I deserve this", and let go, falling into an eternal sleep, haunted by both the corruption of his weakened body, and the very ghost of his beloved.
