Today it's time to review the most popular sleep app on the marketplace. That is the shut-eye app available for iPhone and Android. Is that app as good as the sleep cycle? Well, let's find out with this short and quick video review for the shut-eye app. What's going on, everybody! My name is Jack Jenkins, and welcome to my YouTube channel. I do product reviews, challenges, and pretty much everything. Let's rock that Intro:
[Intro]
Now before I get started, let's quickly go through my day 1 impressions of the sleep cycle app:
[Day 1]
That feeling of liking it more did not go away during the thirty days I was using it. I'll explain why I didn't like it more, but let's go over what is good about the application first. The actual layout and design seem to be much better than the Sleep cycle with an excellent dark interface. All the tracking that is in this app is in this one as well. The app also includes over twenty sleep solution courses and ebooks that you can read. Those are definitely a positive in comparison to the more basic features of sleep cycle. The microphone feature can differentiate when you fart or cough during your sleep using AI technology. Those are definitely huge positives for those who can use this app.
I, however, could not use the application at all due to my white noise machine. I explain more in my day nine impressions
[Day 9]
Yes, there is no way to calculate your sleep with just the movements you make, like with the sleep cycle. If I do try and record myself, this is all that gets recorded. [Play white noise from iphone]. Yep, it just hears my white noise machine. It then calculates that white noise as me snoring, farting, grinding, and everything else it's supposed to calculate. Unfortunately, that makes the tracking terrible and the app entirely useless for someone like me or anybody else who needs to use a white noise machine when sleeping. I kept getting great reviews and having marked for good nights when It was terrible, all because the app could not track me accurately. It's pretty crazy since the app has been out for quite some time. It seems like this is a feature that should have been shipped with it or provided as an alternative. I'll definitely leave a comment to put this as a request since I can imagine a large portion of third-shift workers couldn't use this application.
That's not my only issue with the application, however. My second big gripe with this application is the cost. It costs sixty dollars per year through the app store with no way to buy it on the website with a discount. That is twice as much as the sleep cycle cost. It's probably due to the ebooks' licensing, but I can just get that used from Amazon for five bucks. It's not worth the extra money, in my opinion.
That's pretty much it for my review. I said it was super short since I couldn't really use it. Does that mean the app is useless? Absolutely not. Tons of people use it and love the programs it has. It definitely contains much more content than, say, the sleep cycle. However, I couldn't do those due to the lack of tracking, and I wasn't going to spend sixty dollars on something I can use. I say give this app a try for yourself and see if you like it. I will probably be sticking with the sleep cycle in the future unless the price comes down and the features are added.
So, guys, that's it for today's video on the Shut Eye app. I'll probably take a break from reviewing sleep applications and will go into looking at sleep books instead. It would be cool to do a video on a book and actually try to apply that information into my life. I could also give a summary of what I learned and so on. I'll probably start doing that since I feel like this series can start to be limited. I'll come up with some ideas later on, though. Here is my sheet for this video. Again, I recommend downloading and trying it for yourself. Thank you so much for watching this video. Like, share, and subscribe to the youtube channel. Follow me on Twitter @truejackjenk.
