@havocng pointed out a few days ago that a material worked from Blender in BeamNG without having to create a main.materials.json in the World Editor, or in Notepad++
Apparently, this only works with the color map for a mesh and the material's texture has to be power of 2. So all the other slots in blender for roughness, specular, metallic, and others will not work from what I can tell with this test.

These tests, test the limits of what will export and not export and work in game related to textures.
