Finally doing some more upgrades on my XT.

I've installed an XT-IDE card with 1GB Compact Flash hard drive as well as a brand-new CGA card.

The machine now boots to MS DOS 6.22 (up from the older MS DOS 4.01 on the original hard drive). I'm still having issues with POST error 601 during boot - the system can see the 3½" and 5¼" drives okay, but the system seems to think there are an additional two 5¼" drives ... maybe that's the issue?

It is possible to install both display boards in the machine at the same time. The MDA becomes the primary display and CGA is the secondary.

Apparently it was also possible to have both displays in use at the same time but little software took advantage of that ... examples? Would love to try it out.

The manual warns against connecting the monochrome Model 5151 display to the CGA card, so I didn't try that - disappointing.

It looks like I'll need to track down either an IBM Model 5153 (CGA) or Model 5154 (EGA) monitor ... here in Australia ... good luck!
