IBM PC/XT (Model 5160): Part 8 (Almost finished)
18Putting it all back together. Still some work to do (I think I might've corrupted the hard drive). Planning to install the XT-IDE adaptor & CF card from my Portable PC (Model 5155) to this machine.

Summary so far:
[1] Original BIOS updated to latest available for the XT.
[2] The system board had some faulty RAM so that's been fixed and it now boots from hard disk or floppy.
[3] I've replaced the original 5¼" 360KB drive with a 3½" drive (720KB supported only). However it's not recognising the 2nd drive (5¼" 360KB) ... cable and/or jumper issue I guess.

[4] It had a Persyst [Time Spectrum 384] multifunction card (384KB RAM, RTC, serial/parallel ports) with a leaky battery - I did start to repair it but decided to recover the 4164 DRAMs and upgrade the RAM another way.
[5] The case was originally quite rusty but has been sand blasted, primed and powder coated (top case) or spray painted (bottom case) ... see the Part 1 video for a comparison!
[6] The Model F keyboard and Model 5151 monochrome screen were quite grubby so both were totally stripped and cleaned.
[7] The PSU had two blown RIFA caps so these were replaced, along with most electrolytics. There was some rust inside the PSU case so this has been treated, and the fan exhaust vent (visible from outside) is also nice & shiny again.
### Still to be done ###
[a] get the 2nd floppy to work
[b] Upgrade system board RAM from 256KB (max with 4164) to 640KB (replace some with 41256)
[c] Install CF card for main hard drive (XT-IDE ISA card required)
[d] Replace original MDA card with IBM CGA or EGA cards (on their way from US)
[e] See if I can get my 8" floppy drive working with it
