If Gareth Bale signed HERE, he wouldn't be retired
It was an acrimonious end to what ought to have been a tearful farewell, but Gareth Bale was bidding goodbye to Real Madrid, where he played a part in winning five Champions Leagues as he became one of the more decorated British players ever to have lived.
Seemingly with the intention of retiring upon his departure from the Bernabeu, Gareth Bale’s career looked to be prolonged beyond his Real contract expiration when he helped Wales qualify for the World Cup.
With match fitness needed prior to that winter’s World Cup, many put two and two together and wound up with five.
To many, Gareth Bale to end his club career at Cardiff City would have been a picture book ending. Instead, he went to Hollywood, the MLS and LAFC.
Today, we send Bale into the Championship with his hometown club.
