If This Irrationally Underrated Horror Game Comes On VR Players Will Get Heart Attacks!
There are several games that try to rely on the standard horror game template, but things are easier said than done. It takes more than a set formula to instill genuine fear in the players, and for this reason, there are very few unforgettable survival horror games that stand the test of time. Fatal Frame, however, falls in the latter category, and ever since the first game was released in 2001, it has captured the hearts of horror game enthusiasts. Unlike some other horror games doing the rounds, the games in the Fatal Frame franchise do not rely on too much on violence and gore. Instead, they focus on creating a tense atmosphere that translates into a terrifying experience for the player. Every game in the series is heavily influenced by Japanese horror films, such as The Eye series and The Grudge series, but it bodes well for the horror franchise. If inspiration works such a charm for the projects, we the gamers aren’t complaining!
The protagonist is usually a young woman, and the player has to guide her through a maze of haunted locations and evil spirits. The only thing that she has to defend herself is a special camera, and she has to look for hidden clues in multiple locations to complete the missions. The games are premised in haunted Asian villages, and this is more of a tribute to the rich Japanese folklore. In short, we have been mightily impressed by the franchise, and with a new game coming up very soon we thought that this might be the perfect time to take you on a journey down the evolution of the franchise. In this video, we explore the Fatal Frame franchise, and look into the impressive games that left us spellbound over the years!
