Ikari 3: The Rescue (NES/PS4) YTF Did SNK Make Rambo into a Double Dragon Game?
It's official. None of the Ikari games are good. The arcade games stunk. The NES ports stunk. The games were bad, and we were too young to realize it.
Ikari 3 is SNK's awful attempt to make a top-down brawler. The arcade game was sloppy and grossly unfair. The NES port is a jankfest with clumsy controls and dim enemies. Abusing the spin kick is all you need to survive this game. And even if don't bother exploiting the game's weird combat mechanics, you can just abuse the infinite continues until you beat the game. At least when Guerilla War let you do it, you got to experience a well-made shooter.

Ikari Warriors was a top-down military shooter.
Ikari Warriors 2 was a top-down military shooter with aliens, magic swords, and power armor.
Ikari Warriors 3 is a top-down brawler, kinda like Double Dragon and Prisoners of War. Let it not be said that this franchise was lazily iterative.
