In this video, Ikari Warriors, released in 1987 for the Atari ST by Elite.
Direct conversion from the coin-op arcade, Ikari Warriors puts you (and a friend) on a jungle-like vertical scrolled battlefield with tons of enemies to kill and buildings to blow up. To do that we have a limited bullets for a gun and limited granades, but don't worry there are bonuses that can replenish our backpack with magazines and nades but also empower them. Occasionally we can enter a tank and drive them until you run out of fuel.
Graphically Ikari warriors has been well converted, there are many well colored sprites on screen and occasionally some slow-downs. The vertical scrolling works well, no drama. The sound mimics the original theme and it's ok. Playability wise the game is fun to play, making it an overall good conversion.
Here you'll find the (very) little intro together with the crashing plane scene and gameplay of a good portion of the game.
