IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover Blitz Edition, along with it's Tobruk Desert Wings, may well be older Flight Sims, but they do give you a very cheap budget way into World War 2 WWII flight simulation.
It is not obvious how you can simply choose a plane of your choice and then take off and fly around, so in this beginners guide tutorial I show you how to choose the "Cross Country" mission, change the aircraft to the bomber or fighter of your choice - British or German - then just take off and enjoy flying around.
If you have not learned how to safely take-off yet, you can choose any of the free flight missions when you're in the air already, and just change the plane.
