Illegal Moves On Pokemon NPC's... But Are They Actually Cheating?
8,551when I was playing Pokemon Emerald as a young adult I noticed this sort of weird discrepancy with Winona's Altaria during her gym fight, and it's been fun ever since then looking out for these move oddities with NPC trainers! There is something really fascinating to me about this specific principle though, much more than the easy grab of saying it's cheating. It's very cool to think in a world as big as Pokemon that there are experts and masters out there capable of things that we as "vanilla" players aren't! It makes the world feel bigger and can pose other characters as their own people with special abilities, it's so cool! Cooler than mudkip even.
