I keep playing Illvelo, and I keep learning and trying more and more stuff in it. The end result is a new live PB (https://www.twitch.tv/m_knight_jul), from 8.3 to 8.4 billion!


Here, what I've tried to change compared to my previous runs is focusing a bit more on early-game experience point optimizations. I tried to manipulate the big enemy spawns in a way that gives me opportunities to milk more shield exp out of the big blue enemies that fire tons of missiles. Since the exp level is also part of the score multiplier, it gives me a handy game-long headstart.


To do this, I delay or quick-kill specific big enemies to ensure good timings and positionning for those lucrative enemies when they spawn. Deciding when to get into a bonus stage asap or when to kill the currently visible big enemy before getting inside the bonus stage is what I experimented with in stage 2 and a bit in stage 3. From stage 4 onwards I just try to quick-kill everything since those blue enemies don't spawn anymore.


Stage 2 went pretty well in that regard, you can see that I skipped a lot of blue 2-armed enemies by going in the bonus stage quickly and I didn't kill the late-stage first big blue enemy when milking its missiles so that the second one doesn't spawn while I have to get into the bonus stage.


Stage 3 had one of those big blue missile launching enemies that I unfortunately killed instead of letting it live while I go into the bonus stage so I missed out on some more scoring opportunities because the nextblue enemy was skipped. But at least I got some of them right.


One other thing is that the enemy spawns you get (or more like how far in the list of enemy spawns you start with) can change depending on....??? Possibly the exp level. In this run the spawns were more orless the same I have most of the time, but there's the possibility getting some different configurations is better for score?


And aside from that, the rest of the run was solid with the keys, the stage 5 midboss quick-kills, and the wave destructions in general. It's possible that I haven't destroyed as many popcorn enemies in the early game though, due to me doing the tricks with the big enemies and stuff. But at least I got a new PB anyway so that's pretty damn cool.



Next objective : 8.5bil or more! Dunno what I'll have to do to get them but I'll just keep playing this great videogame and see what happens.
