This cannot be understated, you almost need a bank alt in WoW Classic. Without one, you'll be taking a lot more trips to your home capitals to throw stuff on the auction house. Since one of the biggest time sinks in WoW Classic is travel time, you can see how that could be a waste of time. Much more efficient to just stop at a mailbox which are almost in every questing hub, mail a bunch of stuff and keep questing.

This video also goes into my practices on my bank alt. Not all of which are super optimized, but I've made enough gold to be happy with so far.
