Just a quick video comparing both way of the trapper and way of the pathfinder in a similar environment in respect to orb creation. Bottom tree as you seen in the video had moebius quiver locked in order for orpheus rigs to work.

I tested this many times for quite a bit and this was the most faire results I got. As on top tree you will see on my 6th tether the thrall walk in to my tether therefore stopping the chain. But on bottom tree similar thing happens on my 8th tether.

So on Way of the Trapper
7 tethers
30 orbs created.

And on Way Of The Pathfinder
9 tethers
46 orbs created

In Conclusion:
These tests are not perfect but I,m not going to grind for perfect RNG on thrall positioning but this is a good place to test though. I would say that bottom tree may be better in situations where you are spawn trapping adds in a small environment where range doesn't really matter. However on moments where the environment is much larger and adds are more spread out then top tree is the way to go. So overall in terms of orb creation bottom tree has the higher orb potential but top tree is more reliable for open wide spaces where adds are spread out.

This is only opinion based but I think bottom tree is pretty good overall.
