#Recommended that you watch the video in at least 720p for clarity of text.

This is a video meant to showcase that AMD drivers on
Ubuntu 12.04 can be installed via a GUI interface. Although
others may suggest doing it via a terminal or shell, I have
found that the GUI works just as well.

*Reminder* Everytime you update Ubuntu and there is a new kernel,
you will need to reinstall the driver. This can sometimes be a tidious
or difficult situation. Please be prepared in advance.

Regarding my video and why it seems glitchy with artifacts.
This is most likely due to one of two things:
1. The OpenSource Radeon driver causing issues during screen recording.
2. RecordMyDesktop not properly refreshing during the recording of the entire screen.
During the recording, I did not see these left over window parts or missing parts of
the windows (like the request for password missing the window box).

Step by step:
1. Download your respective driver from AMD's website:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

2. After downloading, open the directory in which
you stored the driver. Right click the driver,
click Properties and open the Permissions tab.
Make sure "Allow executing file as program" is ticked.

3. Double click the .run file.

4. When the pop-up window appears, click on the Run button.

5. You will be required to type in your password to give the program
authority to install.

6. Select "Install Driver x.xxx on X.Org 6.9 or later" where x
is the driver version number. Click on the Continue button.

7. Read the Licence Agreement. Click on the I Agree button.

8. Select "Automatic". Click the Continue button.

9. Once done, click on the Exit button.

10. Restart your computer to let AMD's driver take the place of the Opensource driver.

Recorded using:
(Gtk) RecordMyDesktop

Driver:
AMD Catalyst 12.1 Linux86_64

Issues with this driver:
On 12.04, with the 12.1 driver I experienced an issue
where Ubuntu 12.04 would log off when a video was played.
Flash videos in web browsers caused this, and media players
such as VLC, Mplayer and Totem also caused this.
The fix I found was installing the latest AMD driver,
that is 12.4. You may install 12.4 the same as you
install 12.1 like in this video.

My computer rig specs:
CPU - AMD Phenom II x4 965 3.4GHz
GPU - AMD RadeonHD 6870 1GB GDDR5
RAM - 8GB DDR3 Corsair 1333MHz
OS - Ubuntu 12.04 64Bit/Windows 7 64Bit (Dual Boot)
