16Dual Boot Extraordinaire - Android And Linux On The Same PC In One Partition Running Natively Without Virtualization on my PC
A bit of a waffle, join me in my quest to to have Ubuntu Linux and Android 6.x running on the same machine. To have the best of both worlds. Steam PC gaming as well as Android (retro) gaming. This video documents how I went about it and also me succeeding in getting a dual boot system without the need to have Android (RemixOS) on a separate partition. It will have Android actually reside in its own folder in the Linux File System, sharing the space.
This results in a dual booting Android PC that has a whopping 900Gb free space available to it! :)
This video shows you how I achieved it and perhaps it allows you to replicate it. Mind you this is NOT a tutorial. It is just me going about my business installing Ubuntu and Android on the same PC.
- Creating an Android folder in the root of the Linux machine to house the Android Kernel and the necessary boot images
- Creating a data folder inside the Android folder to house the Android user date
- Adding an OS entry into the Grub bootloader options
- Adding the Gub bootloader to a working Linux system and repairing the entries
- Finding out the Core2Duo Machine doesn't like Android
- Changing to a slower (graphics is Ironlake Intel Graphics instead of GTX750 Nvidia) i3 machine that does like Android
- Running games on Steam (Linux)
- Running games on Android
