The Laundromat in Fenton MO USA, 1993, the MsPacman machine during the many loads of washing we used to do there in the weekends between summer camp sessions. Played long and hard on a quarter and was pretty good at it. Was in the zone and just kept on going even though the laundry had long since finished and people actually ended up putting my stuff in the dryers for me so I could continue playing.
The other one is more recent, at one of the computer fairs in Maarssen (the Netherlands) whilst a lot of interesting stuff was going on, like Mr Atari showing off his Atari 800XL playing a feature length Star Wars film off an IDE drive I was checking out a Gyruss Arcade board hooked up to a dingy old little telly and a crooked Jamma harness. I played the game like I had never done so before, reaching past Earth. The only one noticed was this kid who had been playing Super Mario World on a Snes and he stood there watching me play and said I was really good at it. I was there with friends who were all over the place looking at other things. It was a proud moment still :)
