Intel's Goldmont Plus details have emerged onto the internet, thanks to an architectures optimization manual which Intel put out. GOldmont plus is the successor to regular plain old goldmont, still build on a 14nm process, but with various optimizations which improve performance, including improved TLB, larger caches and other subtle (or less subtle) tweaks.

Meanwhile, LG, Samsung, HTC and other companies quickly point out they're not slowing down your phone with software updates when the battery gets older. But, Apple are pushing the battery replacement through of iphone 6's and later, with an out of warranty battery replacement costing just 29 dollars. This is amid the criticisms that the company slowed the performance of iphones without informing the user, therefore pushing planned obsolescence.
