Not what I expected the inside of a computer network to look like... :o

Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look back at Interphase, an often forgotten hybrid game between a flight-based first-person shooter and a puzzle aspect where you interact with a digital world to guide a person through a building in the real world. It was developed by The Assembly Line, originally for Amiga computers, and published through Mirrorsoft's "Image Works" label in 1989.

Additional Information and Corrections:

* If you want to grab a copy of the game on GOG, follow this link: https://www.gog.com/en/game/interphase/?pp=91dfde1d6e005e422f64a59776234f1f4c80b5e4

* Or if you'd prefer to grab it on Steam, follow this link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1157850/Interphase/

* While proofing the video I was paying closer attention to the AdLib sounds in the background and I have a funny feeling the game's ALSO trying to use the AdLib as a DAC, which is why the sounds seem a bit unusual given that the current base version of DOSBox can't handle that since it's unsupported behaviour. Technically using the PC Speaker as a DAC is ALSO unsupported behaviour but it comes up so much more frequently in gaming that DOSBox already has code in place to be able to handle that. :P

* On some of the more complex floors of the building the blueprints will occasionally fail to render some of its lines, or will render them oddly. The game definitely isn't 100% stable as I did have it hang once during my playthrough seemingly at random.

* One feature I forgot to mention in the review is that if you let the title screen sit you're plopped into a demo mode, like a lot of games do, however, this demo mode shows the ENTIRE process of how to clear the first level of the game, demonstrating some of the various buttons and such of the course of it! Definitely one of the better pre-game demo sequences I've seen! :o
