PC Golf & PC Pro-Golf - ADG Episode 324
164There's "Golf" and then there's... whatever these games are... :P
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look back at two very primitive golf "games" of a similar vintage which are seemingly related but probably not: PC Golf from 1985 which was released anonymously, and PC Pro-Golf made by Jim Childress and published through CMA Software around 1987, give or take a year.
These programs seem to be more about pure simulation than actual gameplay, even though they technically are games and you can indeed play them, but they have features which definitely indicate a gearing more-so towards simulating outcomes rather than trying to actively get the lowest score possible. Not to mention, there were WAY better and proper golf games which debuted around the same time.

* It's been pointed out that PC Golf actually seems to be one of several programs which were originally included with a suite of software by FriendlySoft known as the "FriendlyWare PC Introductory Set", which has IDENTICAL interface styling to PC Golf, so... there you go! PC Golf isn't actually anonymous, it just wasn't intended to be distributed separately from the FriendlyWare package, thus why it's lacking author info, yet it clearly ended up getting distributed separately because I know WE didn't have said software package on our old Tandy computer! :o
