Occasionally in the past, I've headed over to the RogueBasin to search for a game to try out, not for a full series, but to get a quick feel for the game and try to show my audience just how crazy-varied this genre can get. I used to just do that without making a fuss, but I've decided to turn it into its own series, which I'm calling "Into the Basin". So this is my way of categorizing one-offs I gather by randomly scrummaging around for a roguelike. You might see some old videos renamed to fit this bill, and I'll probably start a new playlist for them as well. Just a heads-up.

Go figure, HyperRogue isn't all that fresh of a pick! But it's been significantly updated since we last saw it, and it's a good deal more surprising and exciting, not to mention there's an actual goal involved! Zeno Rogue makes good stuff, and this game doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Powerups, plenty of enemies with different movements and strengths, amorphous terrain (nevermind the geometry). I wonder if this could be moved to mobile devices, I get the impression it'd be a pretty friendly game for that group!
