Ion Fury is a first-person shooter video game developed by Voidpoint and published by 3D Realms. It is built using the Build engine, which was also used for classic games like Duke Nukem 3D and Blood.

The game takes place in a dystopian future where the player controls Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison, a badass protagonist armed with an array of weapons, including shotguns, rocket launchers, and laser guns. The game is set in a cyberpunk-inspired city, and players must battle through levels filled with enemies, secrets, and puzzles.

Ion Fury features a retro aesthetic with pixelated graphics and a classic FPS gameplay style that appeals to fans of classic shooters. The game's soundtrack is composed by Andrew Hulshult, who has previously worked on other classic-style FPS games. Overall, Ion Fury is a nostalgic tribute to the classic FPS games of the 90s, but with modern gameplay mechanics and level design.

Review –

This game is made by the same developer that made Duke Nukem and it shows. The protagonist is a female that throws great one liners like the Duke. The graphics are purposefully done in the Duke nukem pixellated style but looks great and it plays silky smooth.
The levels are really big and the whole campaign is long.
It retains the great exploration factor in which you have to find keycards to get through doors and memorise your way around and often getting lost (which to me is a good thing).
There are a lot of unique weapons like a bowling ball that homes in and explodes causing massive damage. There are also your standard weapons like shotguns, pistols and automatics, but they all have secondary functions whih spices up the variety. The shotgun doubles up as a grenade launcher and the pistol secondary mode is a lock on where you hold the trigger, scroll over the enemy to lock, and then get a definite hit when you let go regardless of where you are pointing. This is incredibly useful against small enemies. Especially the small flying enemies, which you would otherwise waste a lot of ammo on trying to hit them with any other gun.
Boss fights can be quite tough and it can be a little bit scary when gambling on using the a quick save when you think you have done well because you might be heading into certain death and losing your last quick save.
Everything about his game is cool as hell and is easy to get yourself lost in the world for a few hours. Basically the same feeling as the original Doom games and Duke Nukem.
There isn’t much new here but no one was asking for anything new. We want more games like this as modern FPS games are completely different.
