How To Make Your iPhone Recognize Your Name In iOS 26:
Step 1: Launch the Settings app, scroll down and tap "Accessibility".
Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and tap "Sound & Name Recognition" under the 'Hearing' category.
Step 3: Under Sound & Name Recognition, select "Set Up Name Recognition". Once you read through the 'teach iPhone To Recognize Your Name' page, tap on "Next" to proceed.
Step 4: Type in your name in the text box that will be provided in the next page. Then, tap on "Next" in the top-right corner. The iPhone will generate an audio of the name pronunciation, which you can play back.
Step 5: If you like the pronunciation, tap on "Continue" to proceed to the next step. If not, tap on "Record Your Pronunciation" to record your own or others' phonetic pronunciation of your name.
Step 6: Follow the prompts to record three voice samples. Tap on "Done" when the process is complete.
Step 7: Choose "Allow" from the pop-up to give permissions to 'Name Recognition' to send you notifications. The "Name Recognition" toggle will now be enabled (green).
Step 8: Tap on "Edit" to make changes to the name recognition if you feel you made a mistake. You can also tap on "Add Name" to input a different name or nickname that can be recognized, using the same process.
Your name will now be readily recognized by the iPhone when you're doing something or using your buds and you don't hear someone calling out your name. A notification will appear on your screen if the phone detects that your name may have been called out.
