How to turn your iPad Mini 6 2021 into a gaming console with HDMI, TV, Monitor, Ethernet, Sound Card
In this video I'm showing how to add extra hardware and interfaces that all but turn an Apple iPad Mini 6 (2021) into what can only be described as a gaming console. This is an awesome example of just how good gaming on the iPad Mini 6 really is. The iPad Mini 6 is a gaming beast.
For the ultimate stress test I'm also playing Call of Duty Mobile on the iPad Mini 6 gaming setup in max quality and 60FPS. The maximum HDMI output resolution and frame rate of the iPad Mini 6 is 1440P 60FPS.
While his iPad Mini 6 desktop setup may not compete with an Xbox Series X or PS5, as far as graphics capabilities and processing power are concerned. It most certainly gives the iPad Mini 6 a lot of functionality that you'd expect from a game console.
Like an Xbox or PS5 game console, this iPad Mini desktop setup gives you HDMI output to connect to a TV or computer monitor. It also has a fast gigabit ethernet LAN connection so you can connect to a router or modem for very fast internet with low latency ping, something that's essential for online gaming.
Adding the USB audio interface to the iPad Mini 6 also gives the ability to be used with wired headphones and also wired microphones. In fact, with this setup you can seven use traditional large diaphragm studio condenser professional microphones due to the phantom power capabilities of the USB audio card.
Then once you add a game controller to the iPad Mini 6, with the Series X, PS5 and PS4 controllers being compatible. This is the closest to a full on game console experience you can get with the iPad Mini 6 or any iPad.
So maybe it's no Xbox or PlayStation but this gaming setup for the iPad Mini brings it closer to that elusive Apple game console that we've all been waiting for, for such a long time.
With the rumours that Apple have been working on a games console abound. Maybe this gaming setup could be something similar to what we may expect from the 'so called' Apple Gaming Console if they do release their game console. I say that because it would be so likely that any Apple game console would probably be very similar to ab Apple TV box and based on iOS or iPadOS and initially compatible with Apple Arcade games and typical iPad and iPhone favourites such as Call of Duty Mobile, Genshin Impact and Fortnite etc.
I'd also guess that any Apple game console would be something similar in size and shape to an Apple TV but with at least the same powerful Apple Silicon A15 Bionic processor that's in the iPad Mini, maybe even a variation of the M1 Apple Silicon processor. Or even something in between the two that had similar GPU cores and core count.
In any case. Until Apple release a dedicated games console, I think this gaming setup on the iPad Mini 6 will be good fun for anyone wanting to game on the iPad Mini with a controller and TV or monitor.
