If like me you've just bought an iPhone 13, in my case an iPhone 13 Mini and you you've moved from a phone that had a 3.5mm headphone socket on it. You'll find that the iPhone 13 does not have a dedicated headphone socket on it. This is indeed the case for many iPhones where they don't have a headphone socket on them.
So the easiest thing to do is use the Apple Lightning to Headphone Jack Adapter dongle cable. This adapter has a Lightning connection on one end that plug straight into the Lightning port on your iPhone and the other end has a 3.5mm female headphone socket on it so you can connect your headphones to it.
This headphone adapter is also TRRS, which means it is also a microphone input as well as a headphone output. So, if you connect any compatible headphones, earbuds, Apple buds or headsets etc. that have a mic on them and are CTIA TRRS compatible. You can use these with your iPhone with this cable to record from the mic.
