Is Everspace 2 EVEN BETTER Than the First? Find Out Here!
Looking for a space game that goes above and beyond the competition? Look no further than Everspace 2! With endless customization options for your fighter, smooth flying mechanics, and engaging combat, you'll have hours of fun blasting through various missions. Take on main story quests, side missions, and blowing through randomly generated contracts for the 50 or so hours it takes to finish the main story, or 100 hours to play all of it.
In Everspace 2, you'll be able to configure your fighter in a mind-boggling number of ways, rather than simply simulating or stimulating you with anything else. With the looter aspect of the game, you can collect and upgrade your gear by defeating enemy types, and with a variety of ships to choose from, each with its unique playstyle, you'll never get bored.
While the writing and characters are not the game's strongest points, there are a few memorable characters and funny moments, like a broken garbage disposal robot. The combat is fantastic, with smooth flying mechanics, and a rock-paper-scissors system for the equipped damage types that optimize against enemy shields and armor.
With numerous enemies that can overwhelm you on most difficulties, positioning and approach are critical, and taking down priority targets early is essential. There's never a dull moment when dodging behind asteroids to get cover between your fighter and heavier enemy ships.
Everspace 2 offers three ship classes: light, medium, and heavy, with each of them having three further classes that play quite differently. You can equip your fighter with a variety of modules like boosters, armor, and shields, of which there are several variants.
Although the vast majority of missions in Everspace 2 are either go somewhere and have a fight, or return and retrieve something from people after you fight them, there are environmental puzzles to solve, and some locations have hidden hatches to discover and blow open. While these challenges might get repetitive towards the end, they're still engaging for the first few hours.
Overall, Everspace 2 is definitely worth your time if you're a fan of space games.
