Welcome back to Tiny Blue Games! My name is Csaw or Chris, and today we are about Guild Wars 2 in 2020. GW2 has been one of my favourite MMORPGs for a long time, but one of their biggest problems is constantly changing its strategy. Primarily, it always seems to be a big question of whether or not they are going to release a new expansion. The long time after the initial launch of the game, GW2 maintained the idea that they would only release content trough their living world system. However, this all change when Heart of Thorns was initially announced. After launch, they continued with the living world content but fairly quickly announced that there would be a second expansion coming, Path of Fire.
At this point, I and probably many others assumed that this is how the development would continue. However, as time after the second expansion stretched on, it seemed like a third expansion wasn't coming. Then boom, End of Dragons was announced. But at what cost? Was this expansion planned? Does Arenanet have the resources to maintain the living world while developing this expansion? Was this the original plan? It's time to speculate.
