Is Nintendo Switch Way Too Expensive? YES!!!
17Nintendo Switch 2 is an expensive device, but is the console and its games way too expensive? And will this price affect their sales this generation? Lets discuss together!!
I did have fun watching the reveal and thought the games looked great, but I am worried about the price. 450 dollars seems expensive and they might price out too many consumers like casual gamers and families. I feel like this will cost them in the long run. This will cause controversy like the launch of SNES and N64 back in 1991 and 1996 respectively. And they have steep competition with PC, PS5, Xbox Series Consoles, and other high end gaming handhelds like steam deck. They are being shortsighted and need to think picture and not sacrifice the long term viability of the device. And games range from 70-90 dollars! Mario Kart World will be 80 dollars, that is pricey!
But I loved seeing all the first party games, the third party games, and the Indies! Super Mario Kart World looked great, it looks like a fun new spin on the franchise with a large scope. Metroid Prime 4 Beyond looks fantastic. Kirbys Air Ride is back and Masahiro Samurai is producing. Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment looks great! I am worried about the new Donkey Kong Bananza game. I am a big fan of the Rareware and the Retro Studios Donkey Kong Country Games. I especially like the mood and vibe of DKC trilogy and Donkey kong 64. The new design is weird, but we will have to see how it turns out. They also revealed many games from partners and third parties. But will they have third party support for many years to come? Time will tell.
I have issues and worries, but I am optimistic about the next generation for Nintendo. Im just sad they are pricing many people out of this generation.
