Donkey Kong Needs Some Respect!!
131Donkey Kong Bananza for Nintendo Switch 2 shows that DK is finally getting some respect again! Let's discuss the past, present and future of the famous Nintendo Mascot in this video that is part nostalgic retrospective, on top of analyzing the current state of DK and his possible future !
DK is Nintendo's original mascot since his arcade game was huge hit in the early 80s! But then he was completely overshadowed by Super Mario who became the most recognizable character in gaming. Rareware rebooted the series in the 90s for SNES with Donkey Kong Trilogy and then RARE did Donkey Kong 64 for the N64. But then he was ignored often and mostly used in spin offs like Donkey Konga DK Jungle Climber DK Jungle Beat and Diddy Kong Racing. Eventually Retro Studios [who made Metroid Prime] made Donkey Kong Country Returns for Wii and the sequel Tropical Freeze for Wii U. but fans have been hungry for something big and we are finally getting a Triple A fully 3D DK game for Switch 2. He is also appearing the Mario movies and has his own section at Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios. the future looks bright for the famous ape!
Lets not forget the memorable characters like his father Cranky Kong and mother Wrinkly Kong, best friend Diddy Kong, and Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong, love interest Candy Kong, mechanic and pilot Funky Kong, and the villainous Kremlins and their leader King K.Rool.
