In Hannah Arendt's 1970 book 'On Violence', she discusses the topic of violence, and its relation to power. Arguing that power and violence are opposites. Putting forward the idea that violence is the loss or absence of power. In this video we look at that claim. Contrasting it against other models of power put forward by people like Weber, Allen, Lukes, Dahl, and Bachrach and Baratz. Drawing on their work to look at various ways power can manifest, and seeing if the claim made by Arendt holds up.
