Atheists and Faith

Recently the very awesome Rev N Fidel and I have been discussing the book 'Seven Types of Atheism' by John Gray. In the book Gray discusses the idea of atheists having various kinds of faith in various ways. During the discussions I also mentioned myself having faith in things, including science. Both Gray's ideas about atheists having faith and my discussing having faith in science caused something of a negative backlash. This isn't something particularly new either, it's something I've been seeing for a very long time.
In this video I dive a little deeper into that negative reaction. Discussing what faith is in the most common sense, why I see myself as having faith in various things including science, and some of the common responses I see to the idea that atheists have faith. Also discussing why I think this angry allergic reaction that many atheists and sceptics have to the idea that we have faith could be considered detrimental to good critical thinking and scepticism.
