Is Technology Effecting Our Children Socially?

I was reading an AMA about people who escaped from communism. One comment was about how his children never seemed to go out and play in North America. They stayed inside with their tablets and phones. He reflected on how his childhood was happy when he could get together with neighbor kids and go out for adventures at the sand-lot or maybe wooded area.

This got me thinking about back in the day when our entire street got together to play kick the can, hide and seek, or have baseball games in an open area between houses. I wonder if my children will be able to have memories like this when they grow up.
