Welcome back to another video in the run up to Top Spin 2K25 where we look at all of the "new" tennis games from the PS4-PS5 era! Today we look back at 2018's Tennis World Tour - still my most popular video EVER on the channel and perhaps the most controversial tennis game of all time! In 2018... "A BRAND NEW TENNIS GAME – Tennis World Tour is out now on Playstation 4, XBOX ONE, Nintendo Switch and PC! Tennis World Tour is developed Breakpoint Studio and published by Bigben Interactive. The game can be seen as the spiritual successor to Top Spin 4 as it’s developed by essentially the same people! Starring Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka and over 30 other top professionals, it's time to get back on the horse and see how it compares to the old Top Spin and Virtua Tennis games as well as the new AO International Tennis game. And now... the game was developed by Breakpoint Studio. It was published by French publisher, Bigben Interactive, who hurried it to market when it was only 20% complete.[6] Speaking to French publication Le Monde, and translated by NintendoLife, BigBen founder Alain Falc said the game was "only 20% completed a few weeks before its release" but needed to be released in order to capitalise on the French Open and avoid "losing the benefit of marketing campaigns already committed" and added that BigBen "put 500,000 pieces on the market but with many distributors who have no right of return, so we know that will be profitable". Tennis World Tour was advertised right up until release as having online multiplayer available in the game from launch. However, when the game launched, critics and players found that the "online multiplayer" component of the game was not present, and that a statement had been issued from the developer that it would be added in at a later date.[17] The company apologized for what the media described as a bait-and-switch by promising players online multiplayer throughout the pre-order window.
