Is the NEW WARHAMMER VR game a worthy purchase? // New Quest 2 Gameplay
292New Quest 2 games have a habit of releasing without much fanfare, often a new Quest 2 release is announced mere days before it appears on the store and that's exactly what happened here with the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Tempestfall Quest 2 port! This new Warhammer VR game actually launched as a PC VR game back in November of 2021, I covered it at the time and felt it was a pretty "okay" VR game, nothing special but certainly not the worst game I've played either, it actually reminded me a lot of those Xbox 360 era movie tie in games that were pretty fun but honestly quite mediocre at the same time. Jumping into some Warhammer Age of Sigmar Tempestfall gameplay today on the Quest 2 I found myself having a much more enjoyable time with the game, perhaps due to lower expectations or fine tuning that has been done behind the scenes since launch, it still isn't an essential purchase but for Warhammer fans or those looking for some arcadey hack and slash adventuring it might be worth a look...
As with all new VR games, new Quest 2 games and all new games in general the price will the crucial here, the campaign is a decent length with an upgrade system offering a little bit of variety and growth as you progress, however the combat and gameplay loop remains the same throughout (move to new area, clear enemies, move to next area, clear enemies and so on) so for me personally a price point of around £14.99-19.99 feels right. Performance on the Quest 2 was solid throughout except for some odd low frame rate deaths in the early tutorial sections, enemy characters were dying at 4 frames per second whilst the rest of the world moved at a normal speed. Honestly this Warhammer VR game is perfectly enjoyable if you want a simplistic and straightforward hack and slash adventure but if you're seeking anything deeper or more tactile then it's probably best to look elsewhere.
