You all know the drill, by now. It should come as no surprise that The Patriot's track record continues to be...just bad. But still it may surprise you just how disturbing the film's portrayal of women is! You may not catch it right away, as it's all hidden behind the fantasy violence, but when I re-watched the film with the role of women specifically in mind, the reality of this portrayal really leapt off the screen at me. It's pretty dark.
