Is the Steven Universe Finale a Trans Allegory?
6I remember hearing about this theory a while ago, and wanted to see if there was any truth to it. In this video I take a deep dive into just that, as well as throw in my perspective to this topic.
It's always interesting making these, I guess, video essays? I feel like I have a lot to say about them, and worry the video might be too long. Then when it's all edited, the video last about 20 minutes. In a ways this makes sense, in school I often struggled with essays with word minimums (Take 3,000 words as an example) I feel I could make my point in 1,000 words, if that.
One last thing I will mention, that is a spoiler. When I first say this, I was a little disappointed by this ending. I always thought of Steven's connection to his mother, to be the same as Aung's connection with past Avatars. With enough introspection, he could easily talk with her. Though this episode proves she was never there. I still thought of this as a powerful finale, but that part disappointed me.
