If you keep up with YouTube news, you probably have heard claims that subscribers aren't being notified, and video view velocity sharply drops if a video is demonetized or marked as advertiser unfriendly. YouTube has publicly claimed that the algorithms for ranking in search or suggested video are completely separate from the monetization status of a video, so further investigation is needed.

Every YouTuber should understand their analytics; if we have a good understanding of traffic sources over time, we can come up with more informed criticisms to YouTube.
